As Christmas paraphenalia begins to appear on supermarket shelves, I've come to the conclusion "if you can't beat them join them". So here's my Chrstmas appeal..... If you are wondering what to buy for Christmas, how about a shoe box or a goat?! Blythswood Care ( collects shoe boxes filled with simple Christmas goodies, and sends them to people in need in Europe, Africa and Asia. Imagine the face of an orphaned child in Romania light up as they open a Christmas box sent from someone in Scotland, knowing that someone so far away is showing love to a fellow human being. What an impact that can have upon someone's heart! Or how about buying a goat (£22) for a widow in Cambodia to provide nourishment for her children, and a little income for years to come? Or buy a chicken for only £4 for poor families in Zambia? You can do this, and many other wonderful things, through Christian Aid (
